Job summary

The University at Buffalo is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate in the Structural Biology Department to elucidate the structure of human membrane proteins and their complexes involved in epithelial cell adhesion and intercellular transport.

The successful candidate will use X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM/cryo-ET, and microED to determine 3D structures, with responsibilities including expression/purification, method development, lab training, and manuscript preparation.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in structural biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or a related discipline.
• Effective written, verbal, and listening skills.
• 2+ years' experience in membrane protein biochemistry.
• 2+ years' experience in one structural biology technique.

Responsibilities

• The expression, purification, and structure determination of these membrane proteins and complexes, as well as the development of methods applied to this research.
• Other activities of the position include assisting with lab organization and operation.
• Training of students and other lab personnel.
• Grant and manuscript proposal development and writing.
