Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast is seeking a clinically sharp Surgical Specialty Unit Registered Nurse to manage Post-Op recovery pathways in Pasadena, TX. You will work in our high-acuity SSU with complex orthopedic, gynecologic, bariatric and general surgery patients, delivering patient-centered care and contributing to rapid mobility and effective pain management.

You will join a team that emphasizes safety, advocacy, and evidence-based care, with opportunities to pursue CMSRN or MEDSURG-BC

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
• BSN preferred.
• Current Texas RN license (or multi-state compact) and ability to obtain TX license within 90 days.
• Current BLS from American Heart Association.
• 1 year of Med-Surg RN experience in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition at admission and each shift; report changes.
• Assess safety risks and regulatory compliance in patient environment.
• Assess pain regularly and after interventions to guide management.
• Identify signs of abuse or neglect and report to providers or authorities.
• Perform procedures and document care in the medical record.
• Administer medications and monitor therapeutic responses; escalate as needed.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, medications and follow-up.
• Educate on non-medicinal follow-up like diet, exercise and self-management.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to coordinate and adapt a holistic care plan.
