Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain neatness and sanitation in assigned areas at all times.
  • Clean and sanitize assigned work areas that include seating areas, floors, restrooms, etc., using mechanical and/or manual equipment following proper sanitization protocols.
  • Empty trash and recycling receptacles in assigned areas and wheel full hampers to the compactor.
  • Monitor cleaning supplies and paper products and notify the supervisor of needed items at the end of a shift.
  • Maintain neatness and cleanliness of custodial storage areas and equipment.
  • Follow safety rules and regulations.
  • Report any unsafe or hazardous conditions to the supervisor immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Janitor and Operations Manager.
  • Occasionally work as a casual utility, assisting in the set‑up of events.
  • Be knowledgeable about locations throughout the facility.
  • Be respectful, courteous, and helpful to all guests and fellow employees.

Job description

Position Summary

The Post Event Sweeper position is a hands‑on role responsible for the oversight, cleanliness, and safety of a designated area during an event at the PPG Paints Arena in accordance with established guidelines and procedures under the direction of the Lead Janitor and Operations Manager. The role requires a 90‑day probationary period, after which the employee will be invited to join the union.

Benefits

This position will pay an hourly rate of $17.48 per the CBA. The position remains open until October 16, 2026.

About the Venue

The PPG Paints Arena is the regional epicenter for athletic events, concerts, and family shows in Western Pennsylvania and home to the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins.

  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff, including management.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including night shifts, weekends, and holidays—shifts are midnight to 8:00 am, with occasional daylight shifts as necessary.
  • Requires a large amount of walking, stair climbing, and standing to access all seating areas.
  • Requires using hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Able to work in both indoor and outdoor settings and may be subjected to adverse conditions.
  • Ability to work in a position that may be exposed to high noise levels.
