Job Summary

Drexel University, School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems, Huang Lab is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to join its interdisciplinary team focused on developing a next-generation cell expansion platform (CAREp) to address current limitations in CAR-T cell manufacturing. The successful candidate will contribute to translational research efforts aimed at enhancing both autologous and allogeneic CAR-T manufacturing workflows through precision biomaterials, with applications in oncology and autoimmune diseases.

Essential Functions

  • Design and conduct in vitro T cell expansion assays using CAREp microsphere stimulation.
  • Optimize CAR-T expansion protocols from primary human T cells (including patient-derived and donor cells).
  • Perform phenotypic and functional characterization (flow cytometry, scRNA-seq, cytotoxicity, mitochondrial fitness).
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners on CAR constructs and allogeneic editing (e.g., CRISPR).
  • Prepare research manuscripts, contribute to grant applications, and present findings at meetings.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety, ethics, and data integrity standards.

Required Documents

  • Minimum of PhD or Doctorate in PhD in Immunology, Bioengineering, Cell Biology, or related field.
  • Strong skills in confocal imaging, molecular biology, and functional immune assays.
  • Familiarity with biomaterials or polymer synthesis is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
