The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine CPACE AI Center invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist specializing in generative AI. This role offers a unique opportunity to join an interdisciplinary team focused on advancing generative AI in medicine, including large language models, natural language processing (NLP), and vision-language modeling. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of Dr. Yanshan Wang, Interim Director of Generative AI, and Dr. Hooman Rashidi, Executive Director of CPACE AI Center and Associate Dean of AI in Medicine, to drive impactful research at the intersection of AI and healthcare.

Responsibilities

1. Lead research and development of generative AI methodologies addressing healthcare challenges.
2. Conduct qualitative and quantitative studies to evaluate AI tools in clinical and translational medicine.
3. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and optimize AI solutions for clinical needs.
4. Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
5. Assist in grant proposal preparation and progress reporting.
6. Mentor graduate students and junior researchers, fostering a collaborative environment.

Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Health Informatics, or related fields.
• Expertise in generative AI, large language models, NLP, vision-language modeling, with healthcare applications.
• Ability to work independently and in teams within a multidisciplinary environment.
• Strong communication skills, evidenced by publications and presentations.
• Experience with vision-language models, multimodality learning, and foundation models is highly desirable.
