Job summary

Marquette University seeks a MU POST Advocate to support Principal Investigators with post-award administration of sponsored projects, including budgeting, hiring, purchasing, subawards, and closeout. The role partners with PIs in the post-award space, offering guidance on sponsor guidelines, university policies and federal regulations.

The position focuses on identifying systemic barriers, documenting processes, and driving long-term improvements in research administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; minimum of one year of related experience.
• Excellent organization and communication skills.
• Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Must be familiar with project administration and/or grant management.
• Must be willing to learn financial accounting and budgeting related to grants.

Responsibilities

• Provide post-award support and guidance to assigned Principal Investigators (PIs), guiding budgeting (including financial reconciliation and modification), hiring, purchasing, subawards, and award closeout processes, in the context of sponsor guidelines, university policies and federal regulations.
• Support MU POST projects, including developing process documentation, and implementing improvements to research administration systems and workflows.
• Assist in creating, refining, and delivering training resources and standardized tools that promote consistency and efficiency in post-award administration across the campus community.
• Assist PIs by maintaining and monitoring awards through the creation and updating of detailed spreadsheets to track award requirements, deadlines, complexities, and necessary actions.
• Identify and address barriers, compliance issues and upcoming due dates, and facilitate timely resolution.
