Job summary

The University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee is seeking a Research Accountant to provide college-level post-award financial management and accounting support for sponsored projects within the College of Engineering & Applied Science (CEAS). You will partner with principal investigators to monitor expenditures, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with sponsor and university requirements.

Responsibilities include preparing allocations, cost transfers, and payroll analyses; developing spend plans; and

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• At least two years professional experience in accounting, budgeting, financial management, or sponsored-project administration.
• Experience with accounting for sponsored projects, payroll, and cost transfers is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide post-award financial management for assigned sponsored projects.
• Prepare budget-to-actual reports and forecasts for PI review.
• Monitor payroll and project expenditures; process cost transfers and journal entries.
• Assist PIs with rebudgeting, cost sharing, and closeout activities.
• Coordinate with OSP and CEAS leadership to resolve financial questions.
