culture of respect and inclusion. The Specialist, Grants Services Center

role is responsible for monitoring award progress, reporting status

updates to Principal Investigators (PIs), facilitate or initiate

appropriate transactions, and flagging future issues or deadlines for

the PIs. They will also field questions from PIs and provide guidance on

policies / procedures including a check against unallowable expenses.

Individuals will be skilled users of all institutional information and

reporting systems and may be responsible for designing, implementing,

and maintaining tools and procedures to standardize and load balance the

work and output. This role acts as the primary customer service resource

for principal investigators (PIs).

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Communicate clear summaries of awards on a regular basis with the investigator and appropriate staff through reports, etc. Complete and submit any necessary forms (Salary Authorizations, Budget Modifications, Expense Transfers).
  • Ensure accurate tracking of funding, expenditures, and balances of grant accounts. Inform and assist the grant holder with resolution of over- and under-expenditure issues. Review Labor Distribution and Limited Term Reports for accuracy. Ensure budgets are loaded for new/carryover accounts.
  • Prepare financial projections and spending forecasts.
  • Troubleshoot grant-related payment and accounting issues with Accounts Payable and other central offices to ensure timely and accurate processing. Remain aware of the University's policies and procedures with respect to grant expenditures.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between PIs and research administration offices.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least three years of related experience.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Interpret sponsor guidelines and university policies.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Familiarity with project administration and or grant management.
  • Project administration/management experience.
