Job summary

Stony Brook University is seeking a Grants & Contracts Specialist for the Post-Award Team. The role provides post-award guidance and oversight for faculty and staff to support sponsored research in adherence with federal and state laws and sponsor guidelines.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, and the ability to work in a hybrid/remote environment while coordinating with campus stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or 4 years combined education/administrative experience.
• Two years of full-time finance, accounting, or administrative experience.
• Experience with pre-/post-award grant processes preferred.
• Experience interpreting federal, state, and institutional policies preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review, negotiate, and approve terms and conditions for grants and cooperative agreements.
• Coordinate non-fiscal and limited fiscal award management requiring sponsor approval.
• Review progress reports and ensure required documents are complete.
• Serve as primary contact for sponsors in consultation with PI and department staff.
• Assist with interpretation of sponsor requirements and federal regulations.
• Provide training and guidance to investigators and department staff in award management.
