Job summary

Jacobs in the Northwest Region of the Americas seeks an experienced Design Manager to lead multi-disciplinary design teams for multi-year infrastructure projects on the West Coast. You will coordinate between client, internal disciplines, and external partners to deliver on time, with quality, and within budget, guiding design through detailed design and construction phases where applicable.

This role requires strong leadership, stakeholder communications, and ability to manage remote teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• At least 10–15 years of ports and maritime facility design, design management or design delivery experience for large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Experience with Ferry Terminal Projects in WA, AK, PNW or nationally is a plus.
• Experience in ports/marine terminals design and construction; seismic/geotechnical conditions knowledge.
• Familiar with US ports and marine engineering standards; design delivery experience for transportation infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of design risk management and multi-disciplinary team leadership.
• Ability to manage remote project delivery teams across locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior design leadership for multi-year infrastructure projects.
• Direct all facets of design and mentor multi-disciplinary teams.
• Coordinate with subject matter experts to inform deliverables.
• Provide senior leadership for project design scoping, development and reviews.
• Establish work plan and staffing for each phase; assign personnel.
• Ensure design within budget and aligned with contract requirements.
• Oversee timely and quality design document delivery with leads.
• Manage design schedule and resolve delivery issues with program manager.
• Resolve internal design conflicts with discipline leads and client.
• Ensure design scope completion while upholding Jacobs’ safety and performance standards.
• Drive design integration, constructability reviews and value engineering.
• Foster collaboration among design teams and external partners; report progress to client.
