Job summary

Jacobs in Irvine, CA is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead ports & maritime projects within the Northwest Region of the Americas. You will coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams and drive delivery from concept to construction, ensuring on-time, high-quality outputs across WA state and the Pacific Northwest.

The role requires strong leadership, client communication, risk management, and travel willingness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• 10–15 years of ports/maritime facility design or design delivery experience.
• Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects $50M USD+.
• Knowledge of US ports, marine design standards, and seismic/geotechnical conditions.
• Willingness to travel and manage remote teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior design leadership for multi-year infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate design teams and external partners for timely delivery.
• Lead design scoping, development, and design reviews.
• Establish work plans and staffing for each phase of a project.
• Ensure design complies with budget, safety, and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with Discipline Leads, client, and SMEs to resolve issues.
