Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Design Manager for the Ports & Maritime team in the Northwest Region of the Americas to lead design projects in WA and support the Pacific Northwest. You will coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, manage design deliverables, and ensure quality, budget adherence, and timely delivery through all design phases.

The role requires 10–15 years of ports/maritime design and a strong ability to lead across locations, with a hybrid work model and opportunities for growth within Jacobs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• 10–15 years of ports and maritime facility design and project delivery experience.
• Experience in Ferry Terminal Projects in WA, AK, PNW region or nationally.
• Experience in design/construction of ports, marine terminals, seismic/geotechnical conditions.
• Knowledge of US ports and marine engineering codes and standards.
• Proven design delivery experience for transportation infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of design risk management.
• Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams across locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior design leadership for a multi-disciplinary team of design professionals for delivery of multi-year infrastructure projects.
• Provide direction for all facets of design to the design team and mentorship to the team.
• Coordinate with subject matter experts to inform deliverables with experienced team members.
• Provide senior leadership and guidance for project design scoping, development and reviews.
• Establish work plan and staffing for each phase and assign personnel.
• Ensure compliance with contract and manage design within budget.
• Collaborate with Discipline Leads to ensure timely, quality design documents.
• Manage the project design schedule and program to meet objectives.
• Review progress and resolve delivery issues with the program manager.
• Resolve internal design conflicts with stakeholders as needed.
• Ensure design scope completion while upholding Jacobs’ safety and environmental standards.
• Establish procedures for design integration, constructability and value reviews.
• Maintain high responsiveness and coordination to minimize delays.
