We are seeking a credit-focused professional with strong underwriting skills and experience in a commercial lending environment. The ideal candidate will have formal credit training, experience analyzing mid to large corporate companies, and will support deal execution by assessing credit risk, preparing underwriting materials, and navigating transactions through our internal approval process. A solid understanding of commercial credit fundamentals and attention to detail are essential. Experience in the non-bank lender space is a plus but not required.

This role facilitates decision-making and analysis of all types of credit information to support lending decisions and processes. It involves maintaining a client service environment to meet and exceed customer expectations. The candidate will make credit decisions and recommendations in accordance with sound credit principles and bank policies & procedures.

  1. Lead and execute business development plans to achieve or exceed business goals.
  2. Improve service levels, client satisfaction, and loyalty by identifying and recommending process improvements.
  3. Provide strategic input into business decisions as a trusted advisor.
  4. Recommend strategies and new initiatives to senior leaders based on deep understanding of the business.
  5. Manage resources and lead the execution of strategic initiatives to meet business and financial objectives.
  6. Develop business cases by identifying needs, analyzing options, and assessing ROI.
  7. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop client presentations, correspondence, and proposals.
  8. Coordinate database management, ensuring data alignment with governance standards.
  9. Lead change management initiatives, including assessments, planning, stakeholder management, and evaluation.
  10. Guide the creation of comprehensive credit structures to meet client transactional needs.
  11. Work with internal stakeholders to generate ideas, identify solutions, and pursue marketing efforts.
  12. Provide accurate financial and risk assessments of customers.
  13. Partner with stakeholders for detailed client information.
  14. Develop credit information for lending decisions on new, renewal, and extension loans.
  15. Assist in negotiations regarding loan terms and conditions via phone and email.
  16. Prepare summaries and opinions on creditworthiness.
  17. Reduce risk exposure by adhering to internal credit policies and procedures.
  18. Contribute to operational planning and implementation.
  19. Build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  20. Operate enterprise-wide as a resource for senior leaders and stakeholders.
  21. Apply expertise creatively to address complex or ambiguous situations.
  22. Implement changes in response to market trends.
  23. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Typically 7+ years of relevant experience with a related post-secondary degree or equivalent experience.
  • Professional with a combination of education, experience, and industry knowledge.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Influence and collaboration skills, with a focus on cross-group teamwork.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity.
  • Data-driven decision-making skills.

Salary: $120,000.00 - $222,600.00

Pay Type: Salaried

Salaries vary based on location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications, and may include commissions.
