Santander US is seeking an Associate, Portfolio Management within Commercial Banking Middle Market. You will support underwriting new loans for private and public companies and manage existing lending relationships, coordinating with credit, capital markets, and operations.

The role requires strong financial analysis, credit structuring, and risk assessment, with collaboration across internal and external stakeholders. Base pay reflects market norms for the Boston area.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in credit structuring and underwriting and cross selling.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency with financial statement modeling.
• Strong credit skills with the capacity to evaluate strength and weakness of a wide variety of credits.
• Formal credit training program preferred.
• Ability to produce high quality underwriting documents with concise, well-reasoned analysis under tight time constraints.
• Ability to work independently and proactively address the needs of assigned portfolio.
• Excellent interpersonal, team building and communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of regulations governing financial products and services.

Responsabilités

• Lead underwriting due diligence and prepare underwriting documents.
• Interface with clients and stakeholders to facilitate underwriting process.
• Detail debt financings and company financials utilizing Excel and Webster’s credit management platform, Sageworks.
• Perform sensitivity analysis and modeling of projected cash flows.
• Draft approval document narrative, identify risks and mitigating factors, and assign risk grade.
• Present underwriting memos to credit committee.
• Support legal documentation drafting and negotiations.
• Facilitate loan closing with commercial loan operations.
• Review, spread, and maintain periodic financial statements and covenants.
• Engage with borrowers' CFOs for qualitative updates on performance.
• Ensure timely completion of renewals and annual/interim analyses.
