Job summary

Santander is seeking an Associate in Portfolio Management within its Middle Market Banking team in the United States. You will support underwriting, financial analysis, and ongoing portfolio management for lending relationships with both private and public companies.

You’ll collaborate with credit professionals, capital markets, and corporate management while mentoring junior team members. Strong analytical and communication skills are required to drive risk-aware decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military service, or education.
• 5+ Years Experience in credit structuring and underwriting and cross selling.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial statement modeling.
• Strong credit skills with the ability to evaluate strength and weakness of a wide variety of credits.
• Ability to produce high quality underwriting documents with concise, well-reasoned analysis under tight time constraints.
• Ability to work independently and proactively address the needs of the assigned portfolio.
• Excellent interpersonal, team-building and communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of regulations governing financial products and services.

Responsibilities

• Lead underwriting due diligence and partner with relationship managers to produce deal screen and underwriting documents.
• Interface with clients and stakeholders to facilitate underwriting process.
• Detail debt financings and company financials using Excel and Webster’s credit management platform.
• Perform sensitivity analysis and modeling of projected cash flows.
• Present underwriting memos to credit committee and draft relevant approvals.
