Job summary

Nuffield Health Glasgow Hospital is seeking a reliable Bank Porter (Maintenance) to support the smooth running of hospital operations. This hands-on role covers waste handling, room setup, grounds maintenance and courier tasks across departments and externally.

Flexible availability Mon–Fri with weekend work when required; rotational early/late shifts. It is a physical role requiring teamwork and a proactive service mindset, with a UK driving licence and Disclosure Scotland checks required.

Qualifications

• Customer-facing experience or ability to interact with patients and staff.
• Ability to manage workload and take ownership of tasks.
• Willingness to undergo Disclosure Scotland checks.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Collection and disposal of waste, laundry, and clinical waste in line with procedures.
• Setting up conference rooms and supporting office moves.
• Maintaining hospital grounds and outdoor areas.
• Cleaning and preparing designated areas.
• Providing courier services and transporting specimens when required.
• Carrying out parking patrols as directed.
• Delivering and collecting medical devices across the Central Belt of Scotland.
• Supporting the Housekeeping team with key operational tasks.
• Assisting with stock management.
• Adhering to data protection, health & safety, and security policies.

Porter (Maintenance) Glasgow Hospital | Bank Contract | Housekeeping | Ad Hoc

Availability: Flexible availability Monday to Friday, with the ability to work weekends when required.Shift Pattern: Rotational early and late shifts.

£13.10 per hour

We are looking for a reliable and flexible Bank Porter (Maintenance) to support the smooth running of Glasgow Hospital. This is a varied and physically active role, providing logistical and operational support across multiple departments both within the hospital and externally.

This role would suit someone who enjoys a hands‑on position, takes pride in supporting others, and can adapt to the changing needs of a busy hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collection and disposal of waste, laundry, and clinical waste in line with hospital procedures
• Setting up conference rooms and supporting office moves
• Maintaining hospital grounds and outdoor areas
• Cleaning and preparing designated areas
• Providing courier services and transporting specimens when required
• Carrying out parking patrols as directed
