Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) invites applications for a Registered Mental Nurse (RMN) to join the Community Adult Mental Health Team. You will assess, treat and care for adults with mental health difficulties in South Glasgow, managing a defined caseload within a multidisciplinary setting.

The post is a permanent, full-time role (36 hours per week) with a Monday–Friday 9am–5pm pattern, based at Rossdale Resource Centre. NVQ/leadership development and pre-employment checks apply.

Qualifications

  • Registered Mental Nurse (RMN) with live NMC registration.
  • Experience at Band 5 within a relevant clinical area.
  • Evidence of post-basic professional development.
  • Evidence of effective leadership skills commensurate with the Band 5 role.
  • Evidence of excellent team working skills.
  • Ability to work using own initiative and without direct supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Functioning as Named Nurse / Keyworker within a multi-disciplinary team to a defined patient caseload.
  • Assessing care needs and planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care.
  • Carrying out nursing care and delegating to Health Care Assistants where appropriate.

Job description

The Role

This is a key role within the Community Adult Mental Health Team. You will have a key role in assessment, treatment and care of adults with mental health difficulties and diagnosis residing within South Glasgow. You will manage a caseload of patients and engage in regular MDT working. You will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with current NMC registration. You should have effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

This post requires that pre-employment checks are carried out as part of NHS GG&C Policy. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

This is a permanent, full-time post of 36 hours per week.

The role is based at Rossdale Resource Centre.

The shift pattern is Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Functioning as Named Nurse / Keyworker, within a multi-disciplinary team, to a defined patient caseload.
  • The assessment of care needs and the planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
  • Carrying out all relevant forms of nursing care pertinent to the needs individual patients and/or delegating all or aspects of care to a named Health Care Assistant.
  • Identifying and responding to the health promotion needs of patients under his/her care.
  • Identifying and responding to the needs of patients which might be related to gender health, domestic abuse, child protection.
  • Maintaining accurate records of nursing care
  • Developing therapeutic relationships with patients and carers thereby ensuring that care needs are identified and met within a participative framework which recognises the principles of equality, dignity and respect and which takes into account spiritual and cultural diversity.
  • Ensuring that personal practice (and that of Health Care Assistants to whom the post- holder has delegated duties) is in line with the principles underpinning the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 and those of the ‘Patient Focus Public Involvement’ and ‘Fair for All’ guidelines.
