Job summary

Encore Village of Schaumburg is seeking a full-time Porter to maintain a clean, sanitary and comfortable environment for residents and guests in Schaumburg, IL.

The role requires operating cleaning equipment, handling chemicals per OSHA/EPA regulations, and working in residential, common, and pool areas. Prior housekeeping, maintenance, or grounds experience, especially in senior living, is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in Housekeeping, Maintenance or Grounds preferred.
• Previous experience working in senior living, long term care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mops, dust mops and floor care equipment.
• Remove trash and transport materials to disposal area.
• Maintain facility in a sanitary condition and infection control.
• Work in residential and common areas including public washrooms, pools and recreation areas.
• Handle cleaning chemicals and comply with OSHA, EPA and state health department regulations; read MSDS and labels.
• Follow procedures for cleaning and disposal of blood and body fluids per OSHA standards.
• Maintain daily and project schedules; notify manager of changes.
• Assist with leaks or spills as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and tasks as scheduled.
• Interact appropriately with residents; work in a timely and efficient manner.

Job description

Encore Village is currently hiring for a full time Porter job position, days and pm shifts. Will be responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, comfortable and satisfying surrounding for the residents and guests.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain various cleaning equipment/tools such as vacuums, mops, dust mops, darts, sweeper extractors, scrubbers, general floor care equipment.
• Remove trash by emptying trash containers; transporting materials to disposal area.
• Maintain facility in a sanitary and infection free condition.
• Required to work in residential and common areas as well as public washrooms, pool and other recreational areas.
• Must handle various cleaning chemicals and comply with regulations such as OSHA, EPA, and State Health Department. Read and understand MSDS and labels.
• Must follow the required procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing of material or cleaning of blood and body fluids in accordance with OSHA bloodborne pathogens standards.
• Maintain daily and project schedules and notify manager of any changes.
• Perform requests such as assistance with leakage or spills.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and tasks as scheduled.
• Demonstrate the ability to interact appropriately with residents as well as work in a timely and efficient manner.

Experience:

• Experience in Housekeeping, Maintenance or Grounds preferred
• Previous experience working in senior living, long term care preferred
