We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Porter/Concierge at one of our newest developments located in East New York. This is a hybrid position where you will work 4 days per week in the role of Porter and one day per week as a Concierge. As we staff up at this new development, the role may become a full-time Concierge. Candidates must be flexible in working between the two roles and will assist with coverage for other full-time Concierge staff for lunch breaks or fill in as needed.
Porter - Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
- Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, laundry room, locker rooms, and other work areas.
- Sweeps, scrubs, mops, waxes, and polishes floors and stairways.
- Dusts furniture and equipment, vacuum carpets.
- Polishes metalwork, cleans tiles and saddles.
- Washes wall and woodwork.
- Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
- Empties wastebaskets.
- Cleans vacant apartments as required.
- Checks compactor, removes full compactor garbage bags and puts out for pick up per schedule. Sweeps, mops, and disinfects compactor room.
- Replenishes bathroom supplies.
- Replaces light bulbs.
- Cleans garage, basement area, and grounds.
- Shovels snow and clears walkways in winter.
- Transports small equipment or tools between departments.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed.
Concierge - Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Candidate must maintain a strong professional presence and be well spoken and articulate in their interactions with residents and their guests.
- Must be able to enter and track work orders into the system that are submitted by residents or staff members.
- Primary responsibility for maintaining proper access and security of the building for residents, employees, and guests including monitoring of security camera feeds and in-person entranceways into the premises.
- Strong observational and diagnostic skills to proactively recognize and escalate possible security or other building issues in a timely manner to resident manager.
- Properly screen all visitors to the building and announce welcomed visitors via the building’s intercom system.
- Assist with retrieving packages for tenants from the package room per established protocols.
- Ensure package room is maintained in an orderly manner.
- Assist with other duties that may be assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Experience
- One to three months prior experience related Porter or Custodial experience and/or training.
- Prior experience as a concierge in residential building preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Must be proficient with a computer and be familiar with using Microsoft Outlook.
- Prior direct experience and proven track record in a similar role preferred.
Leadership/Personal Skills
- Team player able to work well with others.
- Strong customer service skills and managing tenant relationships in an extremely professional and courteous manner.
- Excellent oral and communication skills.
- Exemplary work ethic and attention to detail with a focus on building cost control and efficiency.
- Multi-tasking and management of multiple projects/tasks concurrently.
- Ability to take direction from Superintendent, Facilities Director, and Management staff.
Requirements:
- High School or GED Preferred.
