Job summary

Columbia University Facilities & Operations is seeking a Porter to maintain apartment buildings and grounds. Under general direction, you will perform cleaning and maintenance of elevators, stairs, corridors, windows, floors, laundry rooms, and surrounding grounds.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent; knowledge of building and grounds maintenance is a plus. Regular schedule is Monday to Friday, 2:00pm–11:00pm with a 40-hour workweek; the position is with Local 32 BJ and Union.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and maintenance of buildings and grounds complex: elevators, stairways, corridors, windows, floors, laundry rooms.

• Removes snow and spreads salt as needed.
• Heavy lifting may be required.
