Job summary

Job Summary:Keep the building, grounds, plant, and offices clean and in orderly condition.Responsibilities:Service, clean, and supply all restrooms.Clean and sanitize kitchen sinks, floors, and drains.Clean, paint, and repair areas as needed.Monitor building security and safety by locking doors after operating hours.Check electrical appliance use to ensure hazards are avoided.Performs routine maintenance.Gather and empty trash in offices and around the building.Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming.Follow procedures for the use of the chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specification.Strip, seal, finish and polish floors.Identify needed repairs and notify management as necessary.Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties; Suggest changes to chemicals and procedures to improve sanitation.Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges or squeegees.Steam clean and/or shampoo carpetsSet up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders or scaffolding to prepare facility for events and meetings.Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.Separate and compact trash, plastic, cardboard, and all recyclable material using designated equipment.Separate and repair all damaged pallets using designated tools and equipment.Identify and report sanitation issues that may compromise workplace or food safety.Control sanitation equipment and chemicals to prevent cross contamination.Other duties as assigned.Requirements:High School Diploma/GED requiredPrevious experience as a custodian or porter preferredAbility to work in an environment with recurrent exposure to chemicals and industrial cleaning productsAbility to operate compactor machinesStand on feet for the duration of the shiftWalk long distancesPush, pull, lift and/or carry 15lbs to 50lbsAble to extend arms with hands over the head or at shoulder heightHold, grasp, or turn with the use of handsTouch, pickup, and pinch with the use of fingersKneel, stoop or bend downwards and forwardAscend or descend ladders and platformsStand, work and walk at heights on platforms at least six feet or higherExpress or exchange ideas by means of spoken word.
