Job Summary
As a Porter for Hai Hospitality, you will be responsible for a variety of duties related to the maintenance and upkeep of the restaurant. Reporting to the General Manager, your responsibilities include daily walk-throughs, proactive cleaning, repairing restaurant equipment, facilities, and grounds—both front and back of house. Primary tasks involve routine cleaning, preventative maintenance, handyman tasks, and basic repairs. The Porter is essential in ensuring our restaurants run smoothly and our grounds remain beautiful for staff and guests.
Essential Job Functions
The duties of a Porter are divided into two main areas: restaurant facilities and restaurant upkeep. You will bridge the gap between the cleaning crew and the Facilities Manager. Besides these responsibilities, you are expected to complete all assigned projects and adhere to company policies. Your skills and duties will be assessed under the following categories:
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Demonstrate understanding and control over assigned equipment and facilities.
- Understand best practices, supplies, and tools for various cleaning applications.
- Maintain and organize shared cleaning and maintenance supplies and storage areas.
- Have a basic understanding of technical manuals and drawings.
- Understand restaurant operations, including service needs and opening/closing protocols.
- Be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
Teamwork
- Maintain collaborative relationships with adjacent teams.
- Support a respectful, non-judgmental work environment.
- Assist peers as needed and recognize individual strengths and weaknesses.
- Strive to learn and teach others.
Appearance and Professionalism
- Keep workstations and areas clean and sanitary.
- Dress in appropriate kitchen attire, including non-slip shoes.
- Maintain well-groomed facial hair and minimal jewelry.
- Attend shifts, meetings, and events punctually; communicate schedule changes in advance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Report facilities issues proactively to the GM, CDC, and Facilities Manager.
- Resolve conflicts respectfully and promptly, seeking assistance when needed.
- Accept feedback graciously and provide feedback respectfully.
