Job summary

Brookfield Properties is seeking an on-site building cleaning staff member to maintain cleanliness across offices, lobbies and common areas. The role involves mopping, sweeping, dusting, and basic maintenance in commercial or multi-unit residential properties.

Qualified candidates have at least a high school diploma or GED and 1 year of prior experience. English communication skills are essential; multilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED or equivalent work experience.
• 1 year of prior experience on a commercial or multi-unit residential property.
• Must be able to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing; multilingual skills are a plus.
• Dependability, teamwork, ethics and following policies and procedures.
• Safety and security: observes safety procedures and uses equipment properly.

Responsibilities

• Cleans offices, bathrooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges and rest rooms.
• Wet- or dry-mop floors, shampoo rugs, wash walls and glass, remove rubbish.
• Make minor repairs, painting, carpentry and replenish bathroom supplies.
• Sweep, scrub, wax and polish floors, lighting fixtures, marble surfaces and trim.
• Cleans rugs and carpets, upholstery and draperies.
• Dusts furniture and equipment; replaces light bulbs.
• Transports small equipment between departments.
• Sets up tables and chairs in auditoriums, meeting rooms or halls.

Overview

Job Description

Building cleaning workers – including porters, janitors, maids, housekeeping cleaners, window washers and rug shampooers – keep premises of commercial or institutional building in clean and orderly condition.

• Cleans offices, bathrooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas
• Wet- or dry-mop floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, removing rubbish, pressure washing, gum and graffiti removal
• Make minor repairs, painting and carpentry, replenish bathroom supplies, landscaping and snow removal
• Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor, lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim
• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies
• Dusts furniture and equipment
• Replaces light bulbs
• Transports small equipment or tools between departments
• Sets up tables and chairs in auditorium, meeting rooms or hall
• This position requires a High School Diploma / GED, or equivalent work experience
• 1 year of required prior experience in working on a commercial or multi-unit residential property

• Computer and smart phone literacy required. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, for all work-related responsibilities. Multilingual skills are a plus.
