Job summary

APTIM in Mobile, AL seeks a Port Services Project Engineer to join our Ports Services Group, focusing on inspection, analysis, and design of crane, pier, and wharf structures for port infrastructure.

You will work with multidisciplinary engineers, perform field inspections (10-25%), develop repair and retrofit designs, and contribute to digital inspection initiatives while traveling along the Southeast.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, structural or mechanical engineering.
• PE license preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• 10+ years of structural or mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience with cranes, waterfront structures, or heavy marine infrastructure preferred.
• Proficient in RISA, Mathcad, AutoCAD; familiarity with Bluebeam and Autodesk Construction Cloud a plus.

Responsibilities

• Inspect cranes, waterfront structures, and port assets to assess condition and repair needs.
• Develop repair, retrofit, and design drawings and calculations for steel and concrete structures.
• Perform structural analysis and design with RISA, Mathcad, and AutoCAD.
• Collaborate with project managers to meet scope, schedule, and quality.
• Travel 10-25% for field work.
• Mentor junior engineers and inspection staff.
