Job summary

The Port of New Orleans is looking for a Port Facility Maintenance Specialist 1, 2, or 3 to join our Bridge Maintenance team. You will perform mechanical, electrical, and structural maintenance to keep movable bridges safe, reliable, and operational. No experience or training is required.

Appointment types include Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment, with a 40-hour work week and overtime as needed. Premium pay up to $1.50 per hour applies.

The Port is seeking a skilled and motivated Port Facility Maintenance Specialist 1, 2, or 3 to join our Bridge Maintenance team. This position plays a critical role in helping to keep our movable bridges safe, reliable, and operational by performing mechanical, electrical, and structural maintenance and repairs.

• Maintain and Repair Four Movable Bridges: Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and replacement of mechanical, electrical, and structural bridge components, including motors, gears, electrical systems, traffic signals, and related equipment.

• Support Safe Bridge Operations: Conduct routine and emergency inspections, communicate maintenance activities with bridge operators, maintain bridge equipment and work areas, and respond as part of the bridge call-out team.

Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Port Facility Maintenance Specialist 1,2, or 3.

Compensation: This position is eligible for premium pay of up to $1.50 per hour. (For each hour actually worked)

Work Schedule: The position currently consists of working forty (40) hour work week with overtime as necessary.
