Job summary

Port of South Louisiana is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to support the safe operation and upkeep of Port facilities, grounds, vehicles, and equipment. The role requires practical repair skills, attention to detail, and dependable work habits, with a Thursday-Friday rotation sometimes included in shifts.

The position involves building, facility and furniture maintenance, equipment upkeep, grounds care, and general administrative support.

Qualifications

• One year of experience or training in building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.
• Six semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor repairs to buildings and fixtures, including plumbing, carpentry, welding, electrical, mechanical, and painting; operate hand tools and power equipment; assemble and maintain furniture and new equipment; assist with general repairs to maintainPort facilities.
• Repair and maintain lawn care equipment and perform routine minor vehicle maintenance according to manufacturer's instructions.
• Perform grounds maintenance and general facility upkeep, including mowing grass with a zero-turn mower, shoveling, and maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of Port grounds and facilities.
• Operate a tractor with bush hog, spread box blade, forklift, and a rubber tire backhoe with various buckets.
• Operate office equipment and perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
