Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years on-the-job welding experience.
• Ability to pass X-Ray and weld multiple processes.
• MIG root with down-hill progression/Flux core fill and cap with up-hill progression.
• TIG welding passes all uphill progression.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
• Strong math and measurement skills including area, circumference, and volume.
• Physically fit and able to work in a demanding environment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble pipe components by tacking them in place prior to welding.
• Confirm squareness and fit-up of joints.
• Verify configuration and alignment of joints; manage taper bore if needed.
• Ensure pipe spool is built per isometric drawings and dimensions.
• Verify correct length, material, type and grade of pipe and fittings.
• Retrieve materials and prepare parts per bill of materials.
• Lift pipe with crane to fit-up bench; perform welding and related tasks.
• Weld joints and grind out temporary tacks; position parts for welding.
• Purge pipe to be welded; record heat numbers and identify welds.
• Inspect welds, correct defects, and maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Follow safety procedures and discuss unsafe conditions with supervisor.
