Job summary

South Seas Resort on Captiva Island, FL is hiring for a full-time server role. The position includes hourly pay with tips, and requires prior serving experience, a High school diploma, and clean certifications. You will work 40 hours weekly, including weekends/holidays, in a fast-paced resort setting.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests and provide hospitality daily.
  • Pre-shift with staff and management for restaurant operations.
  • Set tables, take orders, and serve food and beverages promptly.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of food and equipment.
  • Complete daily shift operation report and communicate guest requests to kitchen.
  • Maintain knowledge of menu items and wine/cocktail lists.
  • Adhere to dress and appearance standards and work assignments.

South Seas is a premier resort on Captiva Island, Florida, featuring 279 guest rooms, over 7,000 sq ft of event space, and 330 acres of coastal and wildlife preserve.

Rate of Pay

Full time, hourly $12.00 per hour plus tips.

Essential Functions
  • Perform direct communication and hospitality procedures with all guests daily.
  • Pre‑shifts with fellow staff and management for all restaurant operations.
  • Properly set all tables and stations; follow appropriate set‑up checklist; take guest orders.
  • Serve all food and beverage items in a timely manner.
  • Proper treatment and storage of food and company equipment.
  • Complete daily shift operation report.
  • Communicate all special guest requests to kitchen.
  • Detail every table and menu before each meal period.
  • Assist with bussing tables ("pre‑bussing").
  • Must have understanding on how to read and execute a Restaurant BEO form.
  • Possess thorough food, wine and cocktail menu knowledge.
  • Exercise a positive attitude and warm hospitality image.
  • Follow associate schedule and work assignments.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
Position Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field is preferred.

Experience: 6 months experience with a background in serving, basic bartending, and cashiering is a plus.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license; a motor vehicle background check will be completed.
  • Must be 18 years old or older to hold this role, serving/selling alcohol in the state of FL.
  • Alcohol Awareness Certification (must comply with State regulations – can receive with South Seas).
  • Food Handlers Certification (must comply with State regulations – can receive with South Seas).
Skills and Abilities
  • Fluent in English language, must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Comprehend reading materials, speak, read and write English; other languages valuable.
  • This position holds multiple job functions at once, a great multitasker.
  • Must show initiative in job performance, including anticipating what needs to be done before it becomes a necessity.
  • Works well in stressful, high‑pressure situations – fast paced environment.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns or issues raised by coworkers and/or guests.
  • Teamwork is essential and critical in this role.
  • Impeccable standards of appearance and grooming.
  • Maintains proper associate uniform standards and footwear which is slip‑resistant, enclosed toe and heel.
Working Conditions – Physical/Mental Requirements
  • Position requires you to be able to stand, walk, bend and stoop for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in different types of extreme weather, including high temperatures.
  • Position will be required to work indoors and outside.
Hours Required

40 hours per week, flexible schedule; will be required to work weekends and/or holidays.
