Job summary

Buckeye Valley Family YMCA seeks a lifeguard to maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. You will monitor activity, enforce rules, and promote a welcoming atmosphere that emphasizes member safety and engagement.

Responsibilities include responding to illnesses or injuries with CPR and first aid, completing required reports, and coordinating with staff to maintain clean facilities and equipment. Must meet YMCA certification requirements and minimum age.

Qualifications

• CPR, First Aid and AED certification required (Professional Rescuer, Red Cross or YMCA).
• Minimum 1 year lifeguarding experience or equivalent training.
• Ability to think abstractly, make quick decisions and assess danger.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain active surveillance of the pool area.
• Respond to illnesses and injuries around the pool with Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR until EMS arrives.
• Maintain professional appearance and adhere to uniforms and safety equipment.
• Complete required documents and reports.
• Keep pool, deck, Aquatics Office and locker rooms clean and safe.
