Job description

Job Summary

Position: [POOL] PT Faculty, Business. Department: Business Management. Appointment Type: Part-Time Hourly. FLSA: Non-Exempt. Location: Albany Campus, Albany, OR.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Business and/or Accounting classes.
  • Prepare and develop materials for classes using approved course outcomes in a variety of teaching modalities.
  • Complete all administrative tasks associated with teaching a course: assign and grade student work, establish reasonable communication with students, report student attainment of course outcomes, maintain student records, and comply with college policies and processes related to teaching workload.
  • Keep abreast of development in subject area, educational technology, innovative teaching techniques, and continuously strive for professional improvement.
  • Establish and maintain opportunities for reasonable and consistent out-of-class contact with students.
  • Exemplify and promote the mission of LBCC.
  • Connect students to college support services and resources to promote student success and retention. Maintain reasonable communication with college support services to this end.
  • Work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages. Promote a classroom environment and a curriculum of equity and inclusivity.
  • Interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of a team.
  • Participate as assigned in occasional department and advisory meetings.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Business, Accounting, Marketing, or related field; or a master's degree in another field with a minimum of 27 graduate quarter hours in the primary field to be taught.
  • Prefer recent teaching experience in a community college or university setting.
  • Working knowledge of computer software and Learning Management Systems preferred.
  • Experience with different modalities of instruction, including synchronous and asynchronous online learning preferred.
  • Expertise or experience in teaching from a social justice perspective preferred.
  • Provisional: Bachelor's degree plus 27 graduate quarter hours in the above field(s) and in active pursuit of master's degree or doctorate; approved to teach in a provisional capacity until completion.
  • If teaching Career Technical Education courses, applicants must have an appropriate degree and either four years of successful work experience in an occupational area or seven years of such experience.

Salary and Compensation

Courses are paid on a per-credit basis. New part-time faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps rolled once per term if eligible.
