Job summary

Village Realty is seeking a Pool & Spa Technician to care for pools and spas at vacation rental properties. You will perform seasonal opening and winterization, maintenance, and service calls to keep facilities clean, safe, and guest-ready.

Join a team coordinating with property management and guest services to ensure safety and guest satisfaction. Experience in pool maintenance is a plus; training provided.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift 10 pounds or more.
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around wet surfaces, pool chemicals, and slippery areas.
• Must be able to perform essential functions safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Description

The Pool & Spa Technician is responsible for the routine care, maintenance, cleaning, inspection, and repair support of swimming pools, spas, and related equipment at vacation rental properties. This position helps ensure pools and spas are clean, safe, operational, and maintained to company and property standards. The technician will perform seasonal opening and closing activities, including pool and spa winterization, and will communicate maintenance concerns and equipment issues promptly to the appropriate team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of swimming pools, spas, and surrounding areas.
• Test and maintain proper water chemistry, including chlorine/sanitizer, pH, alkalinity, and other required levels.
• Vacuum, skim, brush, and clean pools and spas; empty baskets and maintain filters as required.
• Inspect pumps, filters, heaters, chlorinators, valves, timers, plumbing, jets, and other pool and spa equipment for proper operation.
• Identify equipment problems, leaks, water-quality issues, and safety concerns and report them promptly.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs within the employee's training, qualifications, and authorization.
• Maintain accurate service records, including water testing, chemical usage, repairs, inspections, and other required documentation.
• Respond to service requests and maintenance needs at assigned vacation rental properties in a timely and professional manner.
• Coordinate with property management, maintenance, housekeeping, and guest services teams regarding pool and spa conditions or service needs.
• Ensure pool and spa areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and guest-ready condition.
• Follow manufacturer instructions, company procedures, safety requirements, and applicable regulations when handling pool and spa equipment and chemicals.

Pool Opening and Seasonal Preparation

• Assist with seasonal pool and spa openings, including removing covers and preparing equipment for operation.
• Inspect pumps, filters, plumbing, heaters, valves, and related equipment before returning systems to service.
• Clean and prepare pools and spas and establish appropriate water chemistry.
• Identify damage, leaks, equipment failures, or other conditions requiring repair or escalation.

Pool and Spa Winterization

• Perform seasonal winterization of pools and spas according to company procedures and manufacturer recommendations.
• Prepare pools and spas for periods of non-use by completing required cleaning, water treatment, and equipment shutdown procedures.
• Lower water levels as required and properly drain, blow out, or otherwise protect plumbing lines and equipment in accordance with established procedures.
• Disconnect, drain, protect, and/or secure pumps, filters, heaters, chlorinators, and other equipment as required.
• Install and secure pool and spa covers and verify that winterized areas are properly closed and protected.
• Document completed winterization work and report any equipment damage, leaks, or repairs needed before the next operating season.

Safety and Chemical Handling

• Handle pool and spa chemicals safely and in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS), company procedures, and required personal protective equipment.
• Maintain proper storage and handling of chemicals, tools, and equipment.
• Use caution when working around wet surfaces, electrical equipment, moving machinery, ladders, and chemical products.
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, injuries, chemical spills, property damage, or other incidents to the appropriate supervisor.

• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position safely and effectively, with or without reasonable accommodation.
