Job summary

FAENA is seeking a hands-on Assistant Manager to oversee the Pool and Beach department in our Miami property. You will supervise staff, interview, hire, train, and develop the team while ensuring service standards align with Forbes Travel Guide and Faena’s luxury ethos.

You will manage daily operations, schedules, payroll, expenditures, and guest inquiries, while maintaining safety and outdoor work routines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Restaurant Assistant Manager.
• Food handling certification is required.
• Familiarity with food and beverage cost controls.
• Must be able to lift heavy objects, organize storerooms and aid receiving staff.
• Most work tasks are performed outdoors.

Job Overview

Assist the Pool and Beach Director for overseeing managing and maintaining the Pool and Beach department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Faena’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
• Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
• Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
• Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
• Understands and responds to all guest needs and request in a timely and professional manner.
• Assists in creating, implementing and updating departmental procedures, manuals, etc.
• Assists in creating and issuing team member counseling and/or disciplinary forms as needed.
• Maintain and improve service standards in accordance with Forbes Travel Guide.
• Maintains pool and beach policies and procedures, ensures professional standards of operations.
• Maintains adequate inventory of all necessary pool and beach supplies and equipment.
• Assists in planning & developing procedures to improve operations within the department.
• Recognizes and responds effectively to emergencies.
• Upholds an open-door policy to ensure management is available for team members and their questions/concerns are addressed.
• Oversee the development of the team through training, coaching and mentoring
• Work closely with the Quality and Training Director assuring staff is properly and thoroughly trained.
• Conduct training programs on the required job functions with criterion expected and department orientation with new hires. Conduct ongoing training with existing staff.
• Helps create and complete work schedules, records and reports when needed.
• Completes daily payroll reports and prepares final time-log.
• Assist to monitors and controls departmental expenditures maintains annual budget.
• Calculate future needs in equipment, assist in placing orders as needed
• Conduct daily departmental briefings
• Prepare shift schedule and forecast
• At all times provides a favorable image of Faena Hotel Culture to promote its philosophy and luxury etiquette.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
• Keeps Pool and Beach Director prominently informed of all issues of all issues (problems, unusual matters of significance and positive events) and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action.
• Completes job responsibilities and performance objectives in a timely and effective manner and accordingly with Faena Hotel culture policies and procedures.
• Follows all procedures to when handling all cash, credit, and gift certificate transactions.
• Promotes and complies with all hotel policies and procedures.
• Maintains cleanliness and a safe work environment for employees and guest.
• Ensures all staff complies with departmental safety rules and regulations and proper use and handling of relevant equipment.
• Continuously review the operation and make recommendations on how to enhance the service.
