Job summary

MaineHealth is seeking a Polysomnography Technologist I for Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME. The role supports sleep study diagnostics and treatment with a team of sleep physicians and technologists, performing patient prep, equipment setup, data acquisition, and documentation.

New grads welcome. Full-time night shift, relocation for approved offers, and a $15,000 sign-on bonus are available. BLS and credentialing timelines apply.

Qualifications

  • Education: high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of a Co-ARC EEG/Polysomnography program or CAAHEP-accredited program preferred.
  • Credentialing: CPSGT or RPSGT within 12 months; CPSGT then RPSGT within 6 months.
  • Current BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of start.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in diagnostic and therapeutic sleep studies under supervision.
  • Prepare patients, set up equipment, acquire data and document findings.
  • Develop foundational competencies in sleep technology.

Summary

The Polysomnography Technologist Iroleis responsible forassistingin the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic sleep studies under the direct supervision of a credentialed technologist.This role supports patient preparation, equipment setup, data acquisition, and documentation while developing foundational competencies in sleep technology.


Knowledge Skills And Abilities


  • Education:High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Graduation from a Co-ARC accreditedElectroencephalographic (EEG) diagnostics program, a CAAHEP-accredited Polysomnography program, or other healthcare-related educational program preferred.

  • License/Certifications:Must meet eligibility requirements and successfully obtain an advanced sleep-related credential within 12 months of hire—Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) or Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).Completion ofasleeptechnology training suchas an AASMA-STEP program, orSTAR-designated education programwithin 6months of dateof hirerequired.*Note:Individuals who obtain the CPSGT must achieve the RPSGT credential within 6 months following CPSGT certification. Current BLS Certificationrequiredor mustobtainwithin30 daysof start date.

  • Experience:No experiencerequired. A minimum of six months of experience in a healthcare or direct patient care setting is preferred.

The pay range for this position is $27.27to $36.88 per hour.


Compensation for part-time positions is determined on a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
