The Sleep Laboratory encompasses all technical functions within the Sleep Disorders Center. The laboratory is the diagnostic area of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care. It evaluates all patients suspected of having sleep disorders.
Under the medical direction of a physician and under the direct supervision of the lead technologist, Polysomnographic Technologist prepares patients for both all night polysomnographic recordings and multiple sleep latency tests and maintenance of wakefulness tests. Performs a wide variety of diagnostic procedures on patients with suspected sleep disorders. Responsible for preparation of the patient for testing and the collection of information pertinent to the interpretation of the test results in the sleep disorders lab or at the bed side.
Minimum Education Required
HS Graduate or Equivalent
Required Qualifications
Associates degree in accredited educational training program preferred. Credentialed in Sleep through the BRPT, AASM, or RRT programs. Certification must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
