Job Title: Lab Services Technologist - IRP-East Hospital

Department: East | Laboratory

Scope of Position

The East Clinical Laboratory provides comprehensive, time-sensitive laboratory services to patients with various diagnoses or admission/discharge criteria. The lab performs Chemistry, Immunochemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Urinalysis, Manual Testing, Rapid Covid, Rapid Influenza, Manual Body Fluid and CSF cell counts and differentials, Transfusion Services, and Central Processing. It also offers training for new staff and medical technology students. The laboratory operates 24/7.

Position Summary

The Medical Laboratory Technician performs routine automated and manual procedures, verifies and reports test requests and results. Manages phone inquiries regarding patient results, specimen collection, and testing frequency. Uses the laboratory computer system to review reports and call critical values to healthcare professionals. Performs and documents quality control, quality assurance, and preventative maintenance on instrumentation. Works under the direction of the Lab Manager and Lead Technologist.

Minimum Qualifications

• For Hire: Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or biological science with MT certification. MT certification must be obtained within one year of hire.
• Ongoing: Meets hospital education and health surveillance requirements. Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required for essential job functions.
