Qualifications

  • Must have 2 years of experience in Polysomnography.
  • Certification as Polysomnography Tech and Basic Life Support required.

Job description

Polysomnography Technician 2

Location- Rowlett-TX

FT Day

JOB SUMMARY

The Polysomnography Technologist 2, under the direction of the Manager, coordinates the daily operations of the Sleep Laboratory. Within this framework, accountable for monitoring and accessing Sleep Lab quality, policies and procedures, staff and equipment performance. Communicates and educates patients and families regarding sleep disorders and treatments. Consults with referring physicians regarding patient results.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

  1. Performs polysomnographic studies in a clinical setting, including oxygen and nasal continuous positive airway pressure titrations.
  2. Scores studies and formulates reports for physician interpretation. Documents all pertinent patient events according to department policy.
  3. Communicates instructions, results, and relative information to patients, physicians, and family members.
  4. Calibrates and performs routine and troubleshooting maintenance on equipment, contacting manufacturers for repairs as needed. Notifies proper personnel for equipment problems. Cleans all equipment ensuring infection control.
  5. Consults regularly with the Medical Director regarding patient studies.
  6. Maintains standards for completeness of Continuous Quality Improvement and Quality Control measurements.
  7. Orients and trains new Sleep Lab employees.
  8. Establishes and implements performance improvements including education and staff development.
  9. Communicates concerns and/or problems with possible solutions to the Department Manager or Director.
  10. Maintains a current and complete Policy and Procedure Manual.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

  1. Advanced expertise of Polysomnographic Care modalities, therapies, equipment and medications.
  2. Must be able to read, write and follow flow chart protocols as appropriate.
  3. Must be able to communicate thoughts clearly; both orally and in writing.
  4. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.
  5. Must have critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  6. Ability to follow established safety, infection control, and isolation procedures at all times.
  7. Able to proportion multiple demands and respond to time constraints.
  8. Ability to maintain and troubleshoot audio and video equipment.
  9. General computer skills, including but not limited to data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, handheld scanning and email.

  1. EDUCATION: Associate's or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
  2. EXPERIENCE: 2 Years of Experience
  3. CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION: Polysomnography Tech (POLYTECH), Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or CPR Required.
