Polysomnographic Technologist - Sleep Lab

Days: Sunday - Thursday

Hours/Pay Period: 72 hours biweekly

$15,000 Sign-on Bonus Potential

Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, policies, and procedures, and under the general supervision of the medical director/physician, the Polysomnographic Technologist provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders, including sleep apnea testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, patient care, and education. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing patient information, determining testing parameters with the physician, reviewing patient history, verifying medical orders, and providing age-appropriate patient education. The Technologist selects and calibrates equipment, applies electrodes and sensors, and performs routine PAP interface fitting and desensitization.

Education:
  • RPSGT Pathway 1: Clinical Experience. Minimum of 1,638 hours in polysomnography and completion of a STAR-designated self-study program.
  • RPSGT Pathway 2: Healthcare Credential. Minimum of 546 hours in polysomnography and holding another valid healthcare credential.
  • RPSGT Pathway 3: Graduate of a CAAHEP or CoARC-accredited polysomnographic program.
  • RPSGT Pathway 4: Focused Training. Minimum of 819 hours in polysomnography with a STAR-designated Focused education program or a combination of self-study and Focused 2 program.
  • RST Pathway A: Graduate of a CAAHEP or CoARC-accredited program.
  • RST Pathway B: 80-hour didactic A-STEP program with online modules and on-the-job training.
  • RST Pathway C: Valid health professional credential/license in nursing, respiratory care, radiology, or paramedic (EMT-P) with required experience.
Licensure/Certification:

Certification by a recognized board as a Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) or Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) is required. BLS certification is required. Ohio respiratory care licensure is preferred.

Experience:

Previous experience as a Sleep Technologist is preferred.
