Position Summary: Performs polysomnography recordings to evaluate sleep disorders, caring for patients across various age groups: adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

Essential Functions

1. Performs polysomnography recordings using monitors and analyzers as per physician’s orders and departmental procedures.
2. Conducts Multiple Sleep Latency Testing following protocols.
3. Explains procedures and equipment to patients, preparing them for tests.
4. Prepares and calibrates equipment before and after studies.
5. Performs routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fittings.
6. Implements interventions like CPAP, oxygen therapy, ensuring patient safety.
7. Documents all procedures accurately in accordance with department policies.
8. Prepares patients for ambulatory sleep studies and assists with data download and scoring.
9. Schedules, educates, and orients patients in the Sleep Center.
10. Scores clinical events and sleep/wake stages following departmental protocols.
11. Generates reports based on sleep and clinical event data.

Secondary Functions

1. Participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitations and instructs students.
2. Registers patients for sleep services.
3. Participates in on-call duties as required.
4. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or equivalent.

OR

• Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or RN/LPN with 1-year clinical experience, with a plan to obtain RPSGT within 30 months.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-3 years of EEG and sleep disorders experience.
• Proficiency in computer skills.
