Job summary

Northside Hospital in Atlanta is seeking a Sleep Technologist to prepare patients and equipment for sleep disorder testing, monitor recordings, and document results per policy. You will apply sensors, calibrate equipment, and ensure a clean, accurate study environment for adolescent to geriatric patients.

The role requires strong communication, expertise in sleep disorders, at least 1 year of sleep study experience, BLS, and BRPT RPSGT certification or active eligibility.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of sleep study experience.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• BRPT RPSGT certification or active eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Arrives to work in a timely manner and reviews the night’s activity list.
• Reviews patient charts, greets patients, and completes pre-test assessment.
• Applies recording sensors and calibrates equipment per protocol.
• Monitors the recording and documents interventions as needed.
• Performs post-study documentation, removes sensors, and cleans up.
• Scores polysomnograms and assists in training and competency assessments.

Prepares adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and equipment for sleep disorders testing. Monitors the polysomnogram and documents per policy.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Arrives to work in a timely manner. Reviews the activity list for the nights duties and patients.
2. Reviews assigned patient charts, greets patients, completes appropriate paperwork and pre-test assessment.
3. Applies recording sensors, acclimatizes patient to Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) if applicable, and performs pre-recording calibration.
4. Monitors the recording during the evening per protocol including documentation and interventions as needed.
5. Ends the recording per protocol, completes appropriate post-study documentation, removal of sensors and cleanup as needed.
6. Scores polysomnograms as needed and prepares report for dictation. Assists in training, orientation and competency assessments as needed.

REQUIRED:

1. Must possess good written and oral communication skills.
2. Demonstrated expertise in sleep disorders, sleep activity, abnormalities, movement arousals, and respirations.
3. One (1) year experience in sleep study activity.
4. Current American Heart Association's Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).
5. Must possess current and unrestricted certification or registration in one of the following: Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT)
