Job summary

Gillette Children’s is seeking a Respiratory Therapist/Polysomnography Technologist II for our main St. Paul campus. The role offers 0.5 to 0.9 FTE with straight nights, 10-12 hour shifts, Sunday through Friday. Ideal candidate may pursue RPSGT within 18 months from start date.

The position requires one year of sleep experience, ARD/PT credentials, and CPR/BLS. It combines diagnostic testing, patient care, and education under physician direction, with competitive benefits and pay differentials.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a polysomnography program of at least one year from a state-licensed and/or nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience with documented proficiency in all required competencies for a Polysomnographic Technician.
  • Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or equivalent.
  • Current CPR certification (BLS for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association).

Awareness of current plans of care; demonstrates age- and developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive care; documents accurately and in real time; responds to changing patient priorities; provides patient and family education resulting in high quality diagnostic testing and outcomes.
  • Accurate and Efficient Work – Demonstrates accuracy, efficiency, and completeness in products and processes; performs tasks with appropriate urgency and accuracy while reducing waste through proactive time management.
  • Competence in Technology – Prioritizes tasks based on urgency and demonstrates proficiency in job-related software.
  • Procedures and Policies – Follows established procedures and policies and protects the confidentiality of personal health information.
  • Active Engagement – Participates in activities that promote professional growth; attends and participates in staff meetings; collaborates effectively with colleagues and other medical staff.

Education

Polysomnography program (1 year)
BRPT RPSGT certification or equivalent

Job description

Overview

Respiratory Therapist/Polysomnography Technologist II position at our main St. Paul Campus, offering 0.5 to 0.9 FTE depending on preference. Schedule is straight nights, 10-12 hour shifts, Sunday through Friday. This is a benefit-eligible role. Ideal candidate may be open to obtaining RPSGT within 18 months from start date.

The Polysomnographic Technologist is a registered RPSGT or RST with RRT/CRT and has a minimum of one year of clinical sleep experience. The role provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders under physician direction, including polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, patient care and education.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly wage for this opportunity is $37.99 to $56.98, with a median wage of $47.49. Pay depends on factors such as relevant work experience, education, certification and licensure, and internal equity. Weekend, evening, and night differentials of $1.75, $2.35, and $4.00 are available for this position.
