Job summary

TE Connectivity is seeking a hands-on R&D/Polymer Materials Technician III in Fremont, CA to advance polymer formulations and plastics processing processes. You will run trials, operate labs, and document results while collaborating with material development teams throughout pilot-scale and manufacturing implementations.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in plastics processing or related technical fields, strong mechanical skills, and experience with lab equipment and material testing.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification, or equivalent industrial experience.
• 3+ years hands-on plastics processing, materials testing, or related development experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate manufacturing or lab equipment.
• Experience with measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and digital microscope.
• Familiarity with material testing equipment like Instron, UL, and capillary rheology.
• Basic Excel and data recording skills; willingness to learn new AI documentation protocols.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot plastics processing and lab equipment.
• Support extrusion, molding, compounding, and polymer materials development activities.
• Prepare, dry, blend, and process polymer materials and experimental formulations.
• Conduct engineering trials and adjust processing parameters (temp, speed, line speed, pressure).
• Produce prototype samples and test specimens for engineering evaluation.
• Conduct basic material and mechanical testing and dimensional measurements.
• Document processing conditions, observations, and test results clearly.
• Maintain equipment, tooling and lab areas and follow safety procedures.
• Support DOE, material evaluations, and root-cause investigations.
