Job summary

TE Connectivity is seeking a Materials Development R&D Intern for Summer 2027 in Fremont, CA. You will join the Polymer and Composites group within the Corporate Technology Center, performing hands-on work in a lab environment on formulation and characterization of polymeric materials.

You should be pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science and have strong knowledge of polymer chemistry, composite processing, and material characterization

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Ph.D., preferably in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge in polymer chemistry and polymer composites including processing techniques.
• Experience with FTIR, SEM/EDS, MS, DSC, TGA, Instron, and rheology.
• Self-motivated, able to learn quickly, and work independently in the lab.
• Hands-on laboratory experience.
• Ability to define a problem and develop multiple approaches to obtain a solution.
• Good written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in formulation development and application testing.
• Assist in chemical and mechanical analysis of new polymer formulations.
• Conduct literature search and document experimental data; present results at group meetings.
• Support ongoing R&D projects in development of novel functional polymeric and composite materials, e.g., thermoplastic composites, elastomers, sealants/adhesives/coatings.
