Job summary

TE Connectivity's Polymer and Composites group in Fremont, CA seeks a Materials Development R&D Intern for Summer 2027. You will perform hands-on lab work, aiding in formulation, materials characterization, and process development for high-performance polymers and composites.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Ph.D. in related fields, with strong polymer chemistry knowledge, characterization skills (FTIR, SEM/EDS, MS, DSC, TGA, Instron, rheology), and good communication.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge in polymer chemistry and polymer composites including processing techniques.
• Strong knowledge of chemical and material characterization such as FTIR, SEM/EDS, MS, DSC, TGA, Instron, and rheology.
• Fundamental understanding of polymer structure-property relationships and interactions with additives.
• Self-motivated, able to learn quickly and work independently in a lab.
• Hands-on laboratory experience and ability to define problems with multiple approaches.
• Ability to deliver tasks on time and work effectively in a team; good written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Support ongoing R&D projects in development of functional polymeric and composite materials.
• Assist in formulation development and application testing.
• Conduct chemical and mechanical analysis of new polymer formulations.
• Document data, generate technical reports, and present results at group meetings.
