Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University is offering an undergraduate research opportunity in the Advanced Manufacturing Process Development Department of the ARL. You will set up polymer 3D printing experiments, record data with Python and MongoDB, and assist with analysis and reporting.

Ideal candidates are engineering students in Aerospace, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical disciplines, ready to work up to 20 hours per week during academic terms and up to 40 hours in summer.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering disciplines listed.
  • Ability to set up and run polymer 3D printing experiments.
  • Willingness to work up to 20 hours/week in fall/spring and 40 hours/week in summer.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and execute experimental builds on polymer 3D printers.
  • Record data using Python and MongoDB during builds.
  • Troubleshoot 3D printer maintenance issues.
  • Perform mechanical testing of 3D printed specimens.
  • Assist R&D team with data analysis and reporting.
  • Present results to sponsors.
