Job summary

Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union in New York, NY is seeking a Mortgage Loan Officer to guide members through the home loan process, from qualification to closing.

You will collaborate with real estate professionals, pre-qualify applicants, explain estimates and disclosures, and cross-sell credit union products. Fluency in Polish is required and prior 1st mortgage lending sales experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2–3 years of 1st mortgage lending sales experience including both purchase and refinance loans.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship-building skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of mortgage products and lending regulations.
• Self-motivated and detail oriented.
• Fluent in verbal and written Polish language.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with new and current members and provide expert guidance through the mortgage process.
• Collaborate with real estate agents and professionals to ensure seamless experience.
• Pre-qualify members or potential members (income, credit and asset analysis).
• Choose appropriate loan plan options, interview the member to complete application.
• Gather necessary documents, assemble loan file, issue preliminary disclosures with related fees and prepare loan application for processing.
• Advise members of steps and normal timeframes in the loan process, including rates, fees, APR and other elements of financing.
• Cross sell additional credit union products and services that complement member’s financial well-being.
• Stay in contact with applicants throughout the loan process and resolve any issues.
• Coordinate with processing / underwriting / closing teams to meet the scheduled closing date
• Understand the Real Estate industry, home purchase market and life cycle.
• Coach and counsel members in the nuances of home purchase and refinance loans.
• Possess knowledge of mortgage program guidelines and TRID requirements.
