Job summary

State of South Dakota's Department of Social Services in Pierre seeks a Policy Intern for the Summer session (May – August). The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting Medicaid policy work and help advance efforts at one of the state's largest health insurers.

Qualifications

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
• All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to juniors/seniors, SD residents, and students of SD institutions.

Responsibilities

• researching and analyzing coverage of medical services;
• reviewing and analyzing medical claims data to make recommendations;
• developing and revising marketing materials;
• identifying and proposing innovative practices;
• analyzing medical services reimbursement rates;
• assisting with other tasks as needed by the Division of Medical Services.
