Position Description:South Dakota Medicaid is hiring up to two policy interns who will receive hands on experience in helping run one of the largest healthcare insurers in South Dakota. The interns will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful work that will both make a difference in the lives of South Dakotans and prepare them to succeed in the workplace.
The work experience will include exposure to a variety of aspects of the Medicaid program and prepare the interns for a career in healthcare administration, government, or another related field.
The interns will be actively involved in current projects and responsibilities may include:
South Dakota Medicaid plays a vital role in the healthcare of many South Dakotans. The program primarily covers individuals and families with low incomes, including approximately 50 percent of South Dakota children under age one.
Qualifications:
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
