Job summary

Cornell University Library seeks a Government & Public Policy Librarian to join as liaison to the Department of Government and the Brooks School of Public Policy in Ithaca, NY. You will plan, provide, and assess research and instruction services, both in-person and digital, and collaborate to develop government and social science collections.

You will bring at least five years of relevant experience, and contribute immediately as a research partner and library liaison while advancing inclusive

Qualifications

• Master's degree in library and/or information science from an ALA-accredited institution or related discipline such as Political Science, Public Policy, or another social science field.
• Minimum of five years of relevant work experience with increasing responsibility.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships and foster collaboration with students, scholars, and library colleagues.
• Experience searching federal, municipal, and international data portals, secondary scholarly literature, academic data repositories, government document archives.
• Academic background in or demonstrated library experience with a social science discipline.
• Experience fostering learning, research and outreach in a diverse community.
• Demonstrated examples of professional and university service, scholarship, or professional contributions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the library liaison to the Cornell Department of Government and to the Brooks School of Public Policy.
• Contribute to planning, providing and assessing a wide array of traditional and innovative research and instruction services (in-person and digital).
• Collaborate with Social Sciences Collection Development Team to select materials for government, public policy and social science collections.
• Develop resources and services to support researchers with discovery of data and government documents; engage scholars with the Library's collections, services, and spaces.
