Job summary

Cornell University Library is seeking a Government & Public Policy Librarian to serve as a liaison to the Government department and the Brooks School of Public Policy. The role supports research, teaching, and engagement through innovative in-person and digital services.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years of relevant experience, a social science background, and a commitment to diversity and scholarly service within a large university setting.

Qualifications

• MLS/ALA-accredited degree in library science or related field.
• Minimum five years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to build relationships with students, scholars, and library colleagues as demonstrated through teaching or research.
• Experience searching federal, municipal, and international data portals and government document archives.
• Academic background in or experience with a social science discipline.
• Experience fostering learning, research and outreach in a diverse community.
• Demonstrated professional service, scholarship, or contributions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as library liaison to the Government department and Brooks School of Public Policy.
• Plan, provide and assess a wide array of research and instruction services (in-person and digital).
• Collaborate with Social Sciences Collection Development Team to select materials for government and public policy collections.
• Develop resources and services to support researchers in discovering data and government documents; engage scholars with the Library’s collections and spaces.
• Contribute to planning and execution of outreach and collection development in government and public policy.
