Job summary

City of Livonia seeks a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor for the Police Division to plan and oversee vehicle maintenance, vendor relations, and budget controls. You will ensure compliance with regulations and union agreements while optimizing performance and readiness of the police fleet.

You will supervise technicians, manage fuel use, and coordinate with the Uniform Division Administrator to maintain critical equipment and communications infrastructure for day-to-day operations and emergency

Qualifications

• Associate degree in automotive field or 5+ years as a Police/Reserve Officer or fleet coordinator for 100+ vehicles.
• Experience with radio communication systems and deployment of new vehicle-mounted radios.
• Ability to lift and load/unload items up to 50 pounds.
• Possession or ability to obtain state forklift operator certification.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage a preventative maintenance program for police vehicles.
• Ensure vehicles comply with regulations, union contracts, and licensing.
• Schedule repairs and manage outside vendors and parts inventories.
• Oversee fleet budget and fuel purchase/usage program.
• Operate vehicle maintenance software and related systems.
